Spirit of Children will host a Halloween party for the patients of UAMC Diamond Children’s on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1 p.m.

Launched in 2006, the Spirit of Children program brings Halloween to hospitals and rehabilitation centers for kids who normally would not be able to experience Halloween. The program has raised more than $62,865 for Diamond Children’s to date.

Volunteers from Spirit Halloween bring Halloween celebrations to hospitals with costumes, decorations and accessories. Pumpkin painting, costume parades, Halloween games and crafts offer a temporary escape for the young patients. The program has raised more than $4 million for hospitals across the United States and Canada.

About Spirit of Children
At the heart of Spirit Halloween is the Spirit of Children program, which focuses on making hospitals less scary for kids and their families. Since its inception in 2006, Spirit of Children has brought smiles, laughter and a much-needed escape to thousands of pediatric patients in 134 hospitals across the United States and Canada. One hundred percent of the money collected each year is given directly to the local child life departments at partner hospitals, such as Diamond Children’s. Spirit of Children’s goal is to raise $5.2 million this year, bringing its total contribution to more than $21 million since the program’s inception. Spirit encourages customers to head to their local Spirit Halloween store or visit online to make a difference in a child’s life today.
