University Physicians Healthcare is honoring medical residents who are participants in the University of Arizona/ UPH Hospital Graduate Medical Education Consortium with a special event Friday, June 4.
The event will highlight the accomplishments of the residents and the research they have done while in the program and will include presentations by residents from the Departments of Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry.
Residents and students at the University of Arizona College of Medicine have created displays that address medical research or findings important in their specialty. These will be exhibited during the event.
The hospital’s GME residency programs are part of the University of Arizona/ UPH Hospital Graduate Medical Education Consortium. The programs focus on rural and underserved areas of Arizona and were designed to help alleviate the physician shortage in Arizona by attracting and training doctors in Southern Arizona with the hope that they will remain working physicians in the state.
