Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Diamond Children’s Hosts ‘NICU Graduate Picnic’ at Reid Park, Saturday, Oct. 2

Saturday, October 2, 2010 - 10:00am to 2:00pm
The “NICU Graduate Picnic” is held every year for former patients who have "graduated" from the Neonatal intensive Care Unit at University Medical Center (now Diamond Children’s) over the last 25 years.
“We have many families return each year to celebrate the care they received from the staff in the NICU,” says Melissa Perillo, RN, patient care manager of Diamond Children’s NICU.   “It’s a time for families to visit with the staff who took care of their baby and reconnect with families they met while in the unit. Families bring thank-you cards and pictures of their baby over the years to show their progression, which is very gratifying for our nurses.”
Approximately 200 people attend the picnic every year. The picnic includes a jumping castle, balloon artist, games, music, face painting and food.
