‘Bridging the Gap’ Binational Medical Education Conference

Saturday, October 22, 2011 - 8:00am to 5:00pm
Program Overview:

"Bridging the Gap" is a collaboration between the Global Health Forum, University of Arizona College Medicine, and the Sociedad Estudiantil de Medicina, Universidad de Sonora. The gathering brings together medical students from the United States and Mexico to learn about and discuss healthcare issues affecting our respective sides of the border and to build cross-cultural relationships. Learning opportunities will be provided through expert guest speakers, a clinical training seminar, a video screening and optional medical facility tours in Tucson, Arizona, United States and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. With the help of experts on border health, the healthcare system in the U.S. and Mexico, as well as medical educators from both the U.S. and Mexico, we hope to enlighten and educate attendees, while seeking to foster cooperation between future medical professionals from both countries. We are divided by a border, but united by our concern for the health and welfare of others.
