TUCSON, Ariz.— On Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1:30 p.m., Peter Davis (the founder of Laps for Life) will bring his Formula 1-style race kart to The University of Medical Center-Diamond Children’s. Davis will take his cart to two floors (4th and 6th) at Diamond Children’s, where hospitalized pediatric patients can see and sit in the kart.

Peter and Nancy Davis established Laps for Life four years ago, and it has raised more than $200,000 to benefit The University of Medical Center -- University Campus. Two years ago, after touring Diamond Children’s, they visited the new Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant / Hematology-Oncology Clinic (BMT Hem-Onc), and decided to make that clinic the beneficiary of Laps for Life.

Proceeds from this year’s Laps for Life event, to be held on Oct. 29, will be used to purchase items to make life more comfortable for children undergoing treatments at the BMT / Hem-Onc clinic. Such items include Nintendo games, iPads, and other electronic devices and toys, as well as snacks, drinks and restaurant gift cards for family members.
