Fourth Annual ‘Christmas in July’ Toy Drive Event at University Medical Center, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT Unit

Wednesday, August 3, 2011 - 11:00am
On Wednesday, August 3, at 11 a.m., UMC will hold its Fourth Annual “Christmas in July” event for the children receiving cancer treatments in its outpatient Pediatric Hem-Onc/BMT clinic.
Members from the Tucson Police Department Communications Department and members from M&I Bank actively collected toys during the campaign. They will participate in the event, giving the toys to the pediatric patients. Mark Felon, Senior Vice President of M&I Wealth Management will play Santa Claus.
“We are so grateful to TPD and M&I Bank for their hard work at collecting the toys for our outpatients,” says Rose Harris, RN, BSN, patient care manager of the clinic. “These toys will brighten our patients’ time while receiving treatment.”
“Christmas in July” is a UMC campaign aimed to collect toys to benefit young cancer patients receiving treatment in UMC’s  Pediatric Hem-Onc/BMT Clinic. These young patients undergo many challenging treatments that often drain their physical and mental strength. The toys provide welcome and wonderful distractions to the children, while they are receiving cancer treatment.
