Saturday, October 29, 2011 - 11:00am to 2:00pm
Annual event for NICU ‘graduates’ and their families to celebrate the care they received from the NICU staff

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The University of Arizona Medical Center - Diamond Children’s will have their annual NICU Graduate Picnic on Saturday, Oct. 29,from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Reid Park, 22nd Street and Country Club, Tucson.

“We have many families return each year to celebrate the care they received from the staff in the NICU,” says Melissa Perillo, RN, patient care manager of Diamond Children’s NICU.   “It’s a time for families to visit with the staff who took care of their baby, and reconnect with families they met while in the unit. Families bring thank-you cards and pictures of their baby over the years to show their progression, which is very gratifying for our nurses. Some of these patients now are in their teens.”

Approximately 250 people are expected to attend this year’s picnic.

There will be food and fun with an inflatable slide, balloon creations, Starbucks, face painting and other activities.
