The University of Arizona Medical Center – Diamond Children’s
is throwing a Halloween party for their patients with help from community members and volunteers.
Patients were given Halloween Costumes last week by Spirit Halloween, and they will get to wear them to tomorrow’s party.
Jazmyn’s Journey” (a volunteer group founded by Lisa Creason to provide support for the parents and staff of Diamond Children’s) volunteers to assist with the party.
Volunteer face painters will paint patients’ faces with the Halloween design of their choice and volunteer hair stylists will color and style patients’ hair.
The bakery, “Bite Me,” donated 15 dozen specialty cupcakes and other baked goods for the party. Able and Bertha Carabajal donated the rest of the sweets and drinks for parents, nurses and staff. And residents of Rancho Sahuarita and the “Jazmyn’s LUNCH –BREAK” program donated goody bags filled with activity books and markers that will be given to the patients. What’s more, a volunteer photographer will set up a “photo booth” to photograph the patients in their costumes.
“This is our way to bring a little joy to hospitalized children, who have to miss out on Halloween,” said Jack Foote, coordinator for “LUNCH BREAK.”
“This will really lift the spirits of our patients,” said Sarena Rogers, child life specialist with Diamond Children’s.
