Mothers of Hospitalized Children at Diamond Children’s will Receive Hair Styling and Chair Massages as ‘Mother’s Day’ Gift, May 11

Friday, May 11, 2012 - 1:00pm to 4:30pm
Mothers of pediatric patients at The University of Arizona Medical Center – Diamond Children’s will receive a special gift on Friday, May 11, from 1 - 4:30 p.m.
Volunteers from Beautiful Savior Academy Charities and their community outreach program, Jazmyn’s “LUNCH-BREAK” and “ORGAN-DONOR” program (dedicated to serving the patients and families at Diamond Children’s), arranged for 10 beauticians and a massage therapist to volunteer their time. The beauticians will wash, dry and style the hair of mothers whose children are hospitalized at Diamond Children’s. The moms then will receive a relaxing chair massage.
In addition, beauty salons throughout Tucson and women's church groups donated shampoo, conditioner, hand lotion and other items and created gift baskets for the mothers as a special Mother's Day gift.
One room on each of the four floors of Diamond Children’s will temporarily be converted to “beauty salons,” where the moms will receive their special treatment, massage and gift basket. “This is our way of showing gratitude to the moms of hospitalized children,’ says Jazmyn Creason of Jazmyn’s “LUNCH-BREAK,” who helped coordinate the event.
“This is such a wonderful idea that will make these moms feel appreciated,” says Sarena Rogers, child life specialist with Diamond Children’s. “Moms of hospitalized children are under a lot of stress, and this will give them a much-needed break.”
