Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - 2:30pm to 4:00pm
“Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey presents Dragons” will celebrate the healing power of laughter in a fun and exciting afternoon at The University of Arizona Medical Center - Diamond Children’s. Hospitalized children will meet Ringling Bros. clowns and maybe even learn a couple of circus tricks.
In addition to being treated to a performance by the hilarious Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown Alley, the children will participate in different stations with activities relating to the characteristics of the DRAGON:
o COURAGE: Beads of Courage Circus beading kit
o HEART: Will show affection by making a card for a friend, nurse, family member or loved one
o WISDOM: Will test their knowledge of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus trivia
o STRENGTH: Balancing and juggling skills
Children on average laugh 400 times a day, while adults laugh a mere 15 times a day. By learning to smile and laugh again, more easily and often, we could have a profound and positive effect on our health and well-being. Positive outlook and laughter is actually good for our health. In fact, scientists have found that laughter can be a form of internal aerobics that exercises the body and stimulates the release of beneficial brain neurotransmitters and hormones.
