‘Music as Healing Art’: Singer/Songwriter Amber Norgaard to Perform for Hospitalized Children and Staff at Diamond Children’s

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 - 2:00pm
Award-winning singer/songwriter Amber Norgaard will sing to patients, visitors and staff at The University of Arizona Medical Center – Diamond Children’s on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 2 – 3 p.m.

Prior to launching her music career, Norgaard worked as a registered nurse in southwestern Alaska. During that time, she discovered that music was a powerful source of connection with others, transcending language and cultural barriers. This led Norgaard to pursue her passion in 2004—using music as healing art to foster compassion, spirituality and promote positive social change.

Described as “one of Tucson’s great musical trailblazers” and “a singer/songwriter to be reckoned with” (Tucson Lifestyle Magazine), Norgaard is known for her passionate vocal/piano/guitar delivery and eloquent lyrics that inspire a sense of hope.

Norgaard has been recognized in several songwriting and performance contests and was voted Tucson’s 2007 “Up & Coming Artist of the Year.” She tours nationally and has opened for Judy Collins and Michael McDonald.
