The University of Arizona Department of Pediatrics annual “Shoot for Smiles” charity basketball game is celebrating its 10 anniversary this year, on Tuesday, May 21, 6 p.m., at McKale Center.
This family-friendly event benefits the pediatrics residency program’s chosen charity, Casa de los Niños.
Admission to the event is free, with a donation of a new toy, book or game.
“We asked Casa de los Niños to be the recipient of our donations this year because of their long history of work and advocacy for children in Tucson who suffer neglect and abuse,” said Lynda Ken, MD, chief pediatrics resident.
“The UA Department of Pediatrics, along with community organizations such as Casa de los Niños, continue to work to ensure that children in Tucson have a bright and healthy future, one smile at a time,” said Derek Hoyme, MD, chief pediatrics resident.
“This annual game between the UA pediatric residents and faculty continues to be a fun opportunity for the department to give back to the community outside of our roles as doctors working in the hospital,” said Dr. Ken.
“Playing at McKale Center, home of the Arizona Wildcats, is a unique opportunity for our patients, families and physicians to come together in an inspirational venue for an evening of fun,” said Dr. Hoyme.
