The seventh annual Remember With Love Children’s Diamond Children’s Pediatric Memorial Ceremony will take place Sunday, Oct. 13, 2 to 5 p.m., DuVal Auditorium at The University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus.
“This special ceremony is for the families who have lost a child in the last year and families who have attended the ceremony in previous years,” says Claire Bianchi, LMSW, a pediatric social worker at Diamond Children’s. “It helps with the grieving process for families to come together and remember their child.”
The ceremony will consist of parent and caregiver speakers, parent and staff poem readers, parent, staff and volunteer musicians, a slideshow presentation of the children, a memory tree with butterfly ornaments personalized by the families, a sibling presentation and a dove release after the ceremony.
“This is a beautiful ceremony that touches both the families and our staff,” says Pam Spencer, RN, BSN, bereavement coordinator for the PICU at Diamond Children’s. “Of all the things these parents have experienced, the one thing they don't want is for their children to be forgotten. We hold this ceremony to let them know that we do remember, and will never forget these special children.”
