Banner Diamond Children’s to host childhood cancer survivor event at Reid Park Zoo, Oct. 10

Banner Children’s at Diamond Children’s Medical Center will host more than 70 childhood cancer survivors and their loved ones at Reid Park Zoo on Saturday morning, Oct. 10, to celebrate being cancer-free.

After receiving a Beyond the Cure (BTC) educational survivorship grant from the National Children’s Cancer Society, Diamond Children’s is pleased to offer survivors and their families a vibrant celebration where they will enjoy refreshments, interact with zoo animals, enter to win a number of exciting raffle prizes, and most importantly, celebrate being free of cancer.

Volunteers will take Polaroid photos of survivors and their siblings and hand out survivorship resources to parents to encourage healthy living and stress the importance of medical follow-up for their children.
