Alan Bedrick, MD, has joined University Physicians Healthcare and the faculty of The University of Arizona Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology and Developmental Biology, as section chief and professor, clinical pediatrics.
Dr. Bedrick is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and American Board of Pediatrics Sub Board of Neonatal Perinatal Medicine.
He earned his MD at The Pennsylvania State University and completed his residency in pediatrics at The University of Arizona College of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in neonatology at State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center.
As a neonatologist, Dr. Bedrick will provide care for ill newborn and premature babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) at University Medical Center and Northwest Hospital. As section chief of neonatology, Dr. Bedrick will lead the neonatology team in delivery of the highest-quality neonatal intensive care services. In addition, he will be responsible for ongoing faculty recruitment and scholarly activities within the section. The section plays a leadership role in supporting hospitals and physicians throughout Southern Arizona with an active neonatal transport program and outreach education.
Dr. Bedrick''s research focuses on neonatal ethics, public health aspects of perinatal/neonatal health-care delivery, and experimental models of neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis.
