Downtown Phoenix Union H.S. Historic Office

The historic alumni office is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday
PHOENIX – Whether you’re an alumni or just a history buff, there is plenty to see and touch at the Phoenix Union High School Historic Office located on the UA College of Medicine’s downtown campus.

From its beginning in 1895, with an enrollment of 90 students, Phoenix Union made itself known both athletically and academically. In 1956 Phoenix Union merged with Carver High School and Phoenix Technical High School making it one of the largest high schools west of the Mississippi. There are many trophies, awards and uniforms on display in the alumni office, 600 E. Van Buren St. Many issues of the award-winning school newspaper, The Coyote Journal, are available, as well as yearbooks from 1911-1982, the final year of Phoenix Union High School.

The historic alumni office is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday thru Friday and is located on the lower level of the Virginia G. Piper Auditorium at The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix in partnership with Arizona State University. The office is operated by volunteer docents, most of them alumni themselves.

Some upcoming events of the PUHS alumni include the reunion of the classes of 1948 and 1968 as well as the annual dinner dance, all being held on Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Phoenix Airport Hilton. All classes are welcome. For more information call the PUHS Alumni office at 602-827-9010 or better yet, stop by a take a walk down memory lane.
