Tucson, AZ -- The physicians and staff of Diamond Children’s at University Medical Center will host a memorial ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 to honor their young patients who have died over the past two years.
Dozens of family members and staff are expected to attend this annual celebration of life, which features music, remarks by parents and caregivers, the lighting of a Memory Tree, and the release of butterflies in the flower garden in front of UMC. A Child Life Specialist will help siblings decorate quilt squares to create a memory quilt while their parents attend the service.
Media are invited to cover the ceremony. Contact Pam Spencer, RN, bereavement coordinator in the Diamond Children’s pediatric ICU, at (520) 419-7834 to arrange interviews with parents or staff at the event.
