Judith H. DiMarco Appointed Associate Dean, Administrative Affairs, and Chief of Staff at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson
 
Judith H. DiMarco, PhD, has been appointed associate dean, administrative affairs, and chief of staff for the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.
 
Prior to joining the UA College of Medicine, Dr. DiMarco served as administrator for a University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) School of Medicine Administrative Services Group, which included the Departments of Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine and Community Health, the Institute for the Medical Humanities and the Sealy Center for Environmental Health and Medicine.
 
She joined UTMB in 1986 as administrator for the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health and in 1992 also served as administrator ad interim for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. From 1993-2005, she was assistant dean for administration in the School of Medicine, where her responsibilities included coordination of strategic and operational planning, budget planning and control and fiscal projections for the Office of the Dean of Medicine. She also coordinated academic administrative activities with basic science and clinical department administrators. In 1999, she was named administrator for the Department of Family Medicine and in 2008 was appointed as administrator for the Administrative Services Group. She also held a faculty appointment as an instructor in the Department of Family Medicine.
 
She is a member of the Medical Group Management Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Business Affairs. She was an associate member of the Association of Departments of Family Medicine, where she also served as the 2012 chair of associate members/administrators group.
 
She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Alma College, Alma, Mich.; her master’s degree in community psychology from Long Island University, Greenvale, N.Y., and her doctorate in population health sciences/epidemiology from UTMB in Galveston.
 
David T. Elmer Appointed Associate Dean, Finance and Business Affairs, at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson
 
David T. Elmer has been appointed associate dean, finance and business affairs, at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.
 
Elmer joined the UA College of Medicine in 2009. Prior to his recent appointment, he served as clinical practice administrator for the Department of Family & Community Medicine, where he was responsible for managing the department’s academic, research and clinical components.
 
He brings more than 20 years of progressive health-care leadership experience providing strategic guidance and financial and operational management in multi-specialty academic medical systems. He was clinical department administrator for the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta where he also served as senior business manager for the Emory Heart Center – Section of Cardiology and business manager for Cardiology at Emory Crawford Long Hospital.
 
He is a member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the Medical Group Management Association and an associate member of the Association of Departments of Family Medicine
 
He received his bachelor’s degree in history from Emory University and his master of business administration degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
