UA College of Medicine-Phoenix Golf Tourney Raises More Than $24,000

Funds To Support Scholarships at UA College of Medicine – Phoenix

The second annual University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix golf tournament, presented by DPR Construction and Sundt Construction, Inc., raised $24,336 toward scholarships for students at the downtown campus.

The tournament, held Sept. 20 at the Stonecreek Golf Club in Phoenix, included 80 players and featured raffle prizes and lunch.

DPR and Sundt, which built the Health Sciences Education Building on campus in a joint venture, were presenting sponsors of the tournament. They were joined by platinum sponsor K.T. Fabrication, gold sponsors CGL/Kitchell, CO Architects and Kovach Inc., silver sponsors DLR Group and copper sponsors Alliance Bank of Arizona, Audio Video Resources, Avnet Inc., Cannon & Wendt Electric, Kearney Electric Inc., McCarthy Building Companies Inc., Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Rosendin Electric,  University Mechanical & Engineering and Brigham Willis, MD.

“Seeing this many people coming out really is a testament to how much they care about the community’s health,” said first-year medical student Jaycen Brown. “In the grand scheme of things, they people are giving back to the community by sponsoring our education. … Obviously, all of us students are very appreciative.”

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix admitted its inaugural class of first-year medical students in August 2007.
