New UA College of Medicine – Phoenix Departments Approved

At the June 5 Arizona Board of Regents meeting, the UA College of Medicine – Phoenix received approval for the launch of two new academic departments – the Department of Translational Neurosciences and the Department of Oncology.

At the June 5 Arizona Board of Regents meeting, the UA College of Medicine – Phoenix received approval for the launch of two new academic departments – the Department of Translational Neurosciences and the Department of Oncology.

The Department of Translational Neurosciences will be a community of scholars whose work seeks to transform the understanding of the brain and mind. The department will strengthen programmatic ties to the new Banner — University Medical Center Phoenix and the emergence of academic clinical programs in neurology and neurosurgery. The Department of Oncology will establish the academic home for UA College of Medicine – Phoenix faculty members providing clinical cancer services under the UA/Dignity Health Cancer Program Affiliation Agreement. The department also will be home for College of Medicine – Phoenix cancer research activities conducted under the UA’s NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center designation.
