Nancy K. Sweitzer, MD, PhD, director of the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center and chief of cardiology at the UA College of Medicine - Tucson, is the new editor-in-chief of ‘Circulation: Heart Failure,’ a scientific journal of the American Heart Association.

Benjamin Alouidor, a first year Master’s student in the UA College of Medicine – Tucson Medical Pharmacology-Perfusion Sciences Graduate Program was awarded the Best Student Scientific Award at the American Society of Extracorporeal Technology’s 55th International Conference, held May 2017 in Boston, MA.

Elected by her peers in academic cardiology, Nancy K. Sweitzer, MD, PhD, was inducted into the organization led by leaders in American cardiology research.

Three of the 12 new members are UA Health Sciences leaders based in Tucson and Phoenix.

UA Students were recognized for educating and enrolling students and community members in health care coverage as part of the Healthy Campus Challenge.

The UA Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health professor will lead the 1,600 member physician, resident and medical student organization.
